The Gingerbread Box – GUILTLESS PLEASURE [ AUGUST Edition]

This month’s box is perfect for all those keeping a watchful eye on their weight, yet still love the occasional naughty unhealthy snacks from time to time. I’m a sucker for anything sweet in general, but I’m one of those people that like to constantly keep track of everything that I eat. But I have a feeling that this month’s box has taught me one important lesson – you can always enjoy your cheat day treats without breaking your diet with smart & healthy snacking!

The August box goes by the theme of ‘Guiltless Pleasures’ and comes with 5 items from Muncherie. All of the items are raw, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free and paleo friendly! I must admit that my past experiences with “healthy snacking” didn’t really work out so well simply because they tasted really really bad! So i gave up the idea of tasty healthy snacks and assumed that no healthy snack would ever taste as good as the unhealthy stuff. Boy, oh boy was I wrong! Muncherie, you deserve a round of applause.

This month’s box contained:

  1. Vanilla Almond Mylk ( no, that’s not a typo, Muncherie is way too cool to spell ‘milk’ the old fashioned way 😛
  2. Creamy Choco Macha’chino
  3. Strawberry Cheesecake
  4. Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Tart
  5. Kale Chips

IMG_8591The first thing I tried was the strawberry cheese cake, it was calling me from the moment I opened the box! My instincts were right! This cake tastes much much better than all the cheese cakes I’ve tried before, it even beats the ones from The Cheese Cake factory, and they are much better for your body! So well done on that front Muncherie. I’m not really sure about the ingredient list as nothing was written on the packaging, but I could definitely taste a couple of ingredients that went in including strawberry and a hint of coconut for the creamy part and a base made entirely of nuts I believe. What I can tell you for sure is that my taste buds were really enjoying the delicious burst of flavors, and I still don’t know how I managed to finish it all within 5 minutes. Just talking about it now makes me crave for more!

Rating: 5 / 5 stars from me. I wouldn’t recommend so easily though because I know a number of people that would love to try a healthy version of the classical strawberry cheese case but are allergic to some kind of nut. As I’m not sure which nuts were used to make this cheese cake, I’m slightly hesitant to recommend. I would like to ask Muncherie to consider putting an ingredient list as well as nutritional table on their cake packaging.

IMG_8592My mum chose the Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Tart, and absolutely loved it! I personally didn’t enjoy it as much as her so I gave her the whole thing 😛 Any who, This one is definitely for dark chocolate lovers. The tart was very rich in flavor and the dark chocolate and left behind a bitter taste once you’ve swallowed it down. What I found interesting was that there was a thin crust of finely crushed nuts at the bottom of the tart that gave it a new twist of flavors. I enjoyed the parts that had the crushed nuts and wished that there was more of that.

Rating: 3.5 from me, and a 5/5  from my mum. If you are in to dark chocolate you’d really enjoy this one 🙂 I would love to recommend, but again due to the absence of the ingredient list, I’m hesitant to do so 😛

Next I tried the Creamy Choco Maca’chino, Honestly speaking this one is way too good to be kept as a treat, so I looked in to the nutritional information and concluded that this is just perfect to be a pre/post workout shake. The bottle comes with 1 serving of 250ml which is equivalent to 165kcal and 5.83g of protein (note: if you want to tone up and build muscle, this shake doesn’t have enough replace your other source of protein. So don’t skip out on your proteins). What I love about this is the ingredients that have gone in to it ( water,  sprouted almonds, sprouted cashews, dates, raw cocoa powder, peruvian Maca powder, cinnamon, raw vanilla powder, himalayan salt ) This all natural, raw and handmade shake is right up my alley and I have so much love for it.

Rating: 5/5 stars from me! I tried this after an intense workout, and found that it gave me a boost of natural energy that helped me finish my tasks without being too hyper (unlike the energy drinks that you find at nutritional stores). I recommend this to everyone (please keep in mind your allergies)!

I had the Vanilla Almond Mylk on my way to the airport, I had a feeling that I’d love it so I saved the best for last. My instincts were right again 😛 This drink tastes best when chilled, I could straight away identify the mixture of dates, almonds and vanilla in this drink as I usually add the same ingredients together with banana for my post workout shake. The best part about this drink is that it can be enjoyed by adults and kids. My 8 year old brother loved it and wanted more saying it tastes like a milkshake 🙂 That says a lot, doesn’t it?!

Rating: 5/5 from my entire family! I see myself getting this drink as a mid day snack or even as a post workout drink.

I thought I loved the previous box, but this box definitely won my heart! The snacks were amazing, healthy and are indeed a guiltless pleasure! This box also introduced me to Muncherie and the kind of snacks they provide. I will no longer hesitate to get my healthy fixes from them 🙂 Also, let me just say that I’ve never, ever tasted anything as good as the Strawberry Cheese Cake and the Vanilla Almond Mylk. Those were my 2 favorite out of the content’s box.
