It’s been a while … [ UPDATES ]
It’s been a while since I last blogged. But as with everything in life, we all go through phases when our inspiration levels hit rock bottom and we suddenly have no interest what so ever in doing the things we once enjoyed. Guess what? IT’S OKAY! Take all the time you need to find the inspiration once again.
In my case it’s been about 5 months since I last typed up a decent blog post with passion running through my veins. During the past 5 months I’ve travelled all over UK and spent a month in Kenya visiting family and friends. Once I got back to Dubai, I discovered I had a bunch of health issues I had to take care of immediately.
I always considered myself to be leading a healthy lifestyle. Went to the gym atleast 5 times a week, ate whole meal carbs, ate all my veggies and even opted for more “healthier desserts” as and when possible. All that crumbled down the moment my doctor explained the results of all the tests I took.
“You have Insulin Resistance and you are considered pre-diabetic” My heart skipped a few beats. “You also have PCOS” If it was possible for my heart to stop beating for a few minutes, then it probably happened that day. Everything went still for a few minuted while my brain tried to process the facts. PCOS! I’ve suspected it for years, but always assumed I over thought the symptoms.
A few days later, my doctor called me again to inform me the additional blood tests I took indicated a severe case of anemia and vitamin D deficiency. That explained my pale, yellow skin tone and me constantly feeling dizziness and drained.
Over the next two weeks I had a few follow up sessions with my doctor where we discussed the next steps. A bunch of meds, a completely new lifestyle and a most importantly a major change in mindset was necessary to overcome and reverse my symptoms. If I want to live a healthy life, I must do this. I must do it for ME.
It’s been a month now since I found out. I’ve tried a couple of new diets (and failed in maintaining all of them), renewed my gym membership and am training myself to become a more positive and hopeful individual. In light of everything that I’ve been through the past month, I’ve realized the importance of being grateful. Everyday, every hour, every breath is a blessing that we all take for granted. Every moment we have been blessed with on earth is a moment we could use to give back to society. Every second is special and equally important.
Keeping this in mind, I would like to announce that there will be a small shift in the direction of my blog. Don’t worry. My beauty reviews will still go up, however, I will be adding a new segment or two, where I will be talking a lot on self reflection, gratitude, positivity and self growth.
I want my blog to become a place where we can all learn, grow and be supportive of one another’s growth. Everyone has a story to tell, and experiences we can learn from.
If there are any topics you like me to talk about, do mention them in the comment section below. I’m excited to embark on our new growth journey together
