Herbal Essentials Neem Purifying Toner – Review

Herbal Essentials – the skincare brand that has caught my skincare world by storm. I’ve always seen their products around at Boots and their sleek designs caught my attention every time. However, It was up until Herbal Essentials set up a stall in Mercato Mall Jumeriah that I really decided to learn more about the brand and what they have to offer.

What is Herbal Essentials?

I like to think of them as a brand that provides your skin the care it needs with essential herbal products that you probably can’t do without once you’ve tried them out ( LOL ) In all seriousness though, Herbal Essentials provide products that are carefully crafted with ingredients that adhere to the principles of Ayurveda. The ‘ Ayurveda range’ is blended to deliver the harmony that is essential to healthy skin and wellbeing. They use time tested recipes that consumers trust will work, as they contain pure Himalayan water and other natural goodies that are universally acclaimed for their naturally healing properties.

All Herbal Essential Products are NOT tested on animals, and are paraben, paraffin, sulphate and soap free.

With their free skin analysis offer, I decided to go ahead and give them a try. I explained my skin issues to their representative, she advised me to select products based on my skin analysis report. As she was analyzing my skin, she was telling me how sometimes, we are using the wrong products for our skin because we don’t know some essential information: Skin type, Pore condition, moisture level, etc. This results in poor skin care product choice as well as poor results.

My skin analysis revealed that I actually have oily skin that is slightly dehydrated ( All along I thought I had dry skin, when infant, I just  needed more water in my system ) and I do suffer from slightly enlarged pores. Those were my areas of concern and I had to start using products that were targeted towards oil control & minimizing my pore size. Thats when she suggested that I go ahead with the Neem line products specifically the Neem Purifying Toner.

Product description: The purifying toner, containing natural active astringents, has been carefully formulated using Aloe Vera Juice, known for its deep moisturizing properties, and Neem, widely acclaimed for its antibacterial effect. Neem is popular in Ayurvedic preparations, for its skin purifying benefits and reducing the appearance of open pores and black heads.

How to use: After a good face wash, I usually apply a few pumps in to a thin cotton pad and gently pat it on my face focusing on the areas with the open pores issue ( cheeks )

Now, to be honest, I hate toners. I’ve always hated them for a number of reasons – The strong alcohol scent that comes along with some brands, some strip out my skin’s natural oils and leave me with very dry skin, some broke me out, and some just didn’t work at all and were completely useless. I guess this would explain why I wasn’t expecting much results with this one.

The Neem Purifying Toner was added to my skin care routine and I made sure to use it twice a day. And guess what; I actually noticed a difference! My skin always feels clean, looks slightly more radiant in comparison to before, the oil control has definitely improved and my pores have visibly reduced in size! The toner has a faint refreshing scent, didn’t break me out, nor did it strip away my natural oils. I’m impressed! Another thing I’m impressed by is it’s packaging, totally love the pump! This helps me use just the right amount and no accidental spillage.

Because I wanted to make sure that the toner actually works and its not just mind games, I went for another skin analysis at the same stall with the same device. My results showed a major improvement in pore size that it is no longer an issue for me to be majorly concerned about! Not only that, but the acne (whiteheads and blackheads) have significantly reduced especially around my tzone area.

The results have really impressed me and because I love it so much, I’ve already purchased my backup as well as bought other Herbal Essential products that I’m trying out at the moment. Also, I have managed to convince a dear friend of mine with similar skin type to mine to give the toner a try. She also has nothing but positive feelings towards it.

I’d definitely purchase this toner over & over again, because I honestly don’t believe any other brand would offer a toner that is as good or even better than the Herbal Essentials Neem Purifying Toner. If you know of any awesome toners that you swear by, let me know in the comment section below and I’ll be sure to give it a try.
