Etude House – All in one emulsion

Etude House Skin Mal-gem is an all-in-one (essence + moisturizer + cream) hypoallergenic emulsion which promotes clean, clear and pure complexion with moisturizing and pore cleansing formula. The word Mal-gem (pronounced as malgeum) is actually a Korean word for cleanliness, clarity and pureness.

I’ve had this product for a while now (over 4 months :O) , and the fact I’m still using it proves how much my skin has enjoyed it. It has become a staple in my skincare routine, and would honestly miss it once it is done. So lets get down to the review, shall we?

Photo 6-24-16, 20 07 40The packaging is very simple however, I do not find it practical at all. It comes in a very sturdy plastic bottle, that looks more like frosted glass with a twist on cap. The bottle also comes with quite a big opening for you to access the product (as seen in the image), which would’ve been ok, but because the product is really runny, a lot can come out at once if you aren’t paying attention – this has happened to me a lot in the past, so I just return the excess product back in the bottle 😛 The bottle is also not squeezable at all. I would have to admit the packaging did annoy me at times, I would’ve preferred it to come with a pump at least.

The emulsion has a lovely floral, fruity scent to it that I absolutely adore. For some reason, it reminds me of Lychees. Out of all the products I own, I’d have to say, I love the scent of this the most due to it being very light and relaxing. The emulsion is branded as “all in one”, which means it is an essence, moisturizer and cream. This makes it affordable for many as well as ideal to take on trips – it will save you the space and hassle of carrying an 3 separate bottles. Another positive point is just like many Korean skincare products it is paraben, ethanol, mineral and benzophenone free.

The bottle comes with 200 ml of emulsion and I’ve been using it day and night for almost 4 months, yet I’ve still got about a month’s worth left in the bottle. The emulsion has a runny and watery consistency, making it very light on this skin. It doesn’t really take that much time to be absorbed in to my skin, but that could also be due to the fact that I have really dry skin. What I enjoyed the most is its moisturization power, you only really need a dime size to apply on your face and neck. Another favorable thing I noticed is that it definitely improved my skin’s ability to retain it’s moisture throughout the day.

Despite the fact it is an all in one essence, I prefer to use it as part of my skincare routine, which means I apply it right after applying my serum. Then follow up with eye cream & moisturizer. I have used it on its own many times, and I found it to be moisturizing and keeps my face smooth and gives it a healthy and dewy look.  However, whenever my skin is feeling extra dry, this essence is not enough on its own and you’d have to follow up with a moisturizer. Either way you use it, I found that it gave my skin the moisture boost it needed without leaving behind a sticky/ greasy residue.

Where did I get mine from?

I purchased mine from TheBBCreamGirl for AED 73

Would I recommend it?

Yes, absolutely. Its a very mild emulsion that is suitable for all skin types. Moisturizes my skin well, and I would definitely repurchase this again in the future.
