Banila Co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Review
You all would probably agree with me when I say applying makeup is the easy part. Its a fun process that everyone enjoys, and you end up looking and feeling great. The hardest part however, is when you’re finally back home, exhausted from a busy day, but you just can’t jump on the bed just yet. All that water proof makeup you applied in the morning is waiting for you.
When I first started applying makeup, I used makeup wipes from every brand under the sun. Yes, by the end of day the wipe will be brown from all the foundation it removed, but the struggle was real while removing the waterproof liquid liner and mascara. Panda eyes were a daily expectation, and , If you are a mascara girl, you’d probably know that skipping mascara is simply no option!
A few of my friends recommended investing in a good oil based makeup remover ( the ones that come in the liquid form ). Obviously, I tried those out, and came to learn that some brands work better than others, but again, I wasn’t satisfied with the way they made my skin feel. However, I still preferred them over the wipes. They did a pretty decent job. The panda eyes that came about when I tried to take off my mascara and liner were less prominent, but again, these makeup removal techniques was painfully time consuming!
It was when I first started noticing Korean skincare that I came across the well known Banila Co. Clean It Zero cleansing balm. The cleansing balm was a new and foreign concept to me and I clearly remember how excited I was about the existence of a product that removes waterproof makeup in less than a minute!
What is it?
As the name suggests, it’s a lightweight sorbet-like textured makeup removing cleansing balm that literally melts away all the makeup without clogging your pores.
Mineral Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, PEG-10 Isostearate, Polyethylene, Butylene Glycol, Water, Rubus Suavissimus (Raspberry) Leaf Extract, Aspalathus Linearis Lead Extract, Viscum Album (Mistletoe) Leaf Extract, Angelica Polymorpha Sinesnsis Root Extract, Papaya Fruit Extract, Acerora Extract, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, BHT, Butylparaben, Acid Red 18, CI 15985, Spice
I know that many people are cautious when it comes to using oil based products on their face because they fear it could clog pores or even make washing your face seem like mission impossible. But as it turns out, mineral oil is an awesome cleansing ingredient. Because the mineral oil molecules are quite large compared to your pores, it’s noncomedogenic. Also, massaging the cleansing balm into the skin on a regular basis actually helps dislodge stubborn blackheads. Awesome right?!
How to use?
The Banila Co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm comes with a small plastic spoon that allows you to scoop the product in to the palm of your hands. All you’d have to do is rub the product between the palm of your hands for 2-5 seconds till the balm turns to a milky formula. Massage it on to your face and your notice the makeup melting right before your eyes. For eye makeup, you’d be surprised to know that this cleansing balm removes all the waterproof mascara and liquid liner within seconds. However, when it comes to removing eye makeup, don’t be alarmed if some of the product enters in to your eyes. It won’t sting you, but your vision will become blurry till you rinse it off. Once you’re done massaging it on, it’s time to rinse off the milky lather with luke warm water and admire the results. You skin looks clean and is 99% makeup free. I recommend adopting double cleansing skincare routine to ensure that no makeup residue is left behind. On days you’ve applied heavy makeup, I’d recommend using a cleansing brush along with your everyday cleanser. Otherwise just a cleanser would work well. Towel dry your face and proceed with your skin care routine.
A makeup free face in about a minute! No makeup residue is left behind and your face is clean and ready for the next skincare steps. Also for those worried about it clogging pores and causing acne, worry no more. This cleansing balm is very gentle on the skin and definitely doesn’t clog pores. Once you try it out, you’d understand why this cleanser won the SOKOGLAM beauty awards for best cleanser!
If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’d know how I feel about products that come in tubs / jars. I find them to be quite unhygienic. The bacteria from your hands can easily breed & spread through the left over product. But with cleansing balms, tubs are the way to go, and you could maintain the cleanliness of the balm by using the small plastic spoon it comes with. The plastic tub that the Clean It Zero Cleanser comes in is very sturdy, making leaks, impossible, which is great for traveling. Although these cleansing balms come in different sizes, I find its much more cost effective if you opt for the largest size as it would last longer and you won’t spend a fortune on cleansers. When It’s time to travel, I usually decant some of it in a small plastic container from Diaso, or just carry the whole thing with me if I’ve got space to spare.
